Chat

The chat field type is a core feature of Cogfy, purpose-built for capturing, transforming, and interacting with conversational data. It stores a sequence of messages—typically between a user and an assistant—and supports structured message history that can evolve over time. One of its most powerful capabilities lies in its configurability through Middlewares, which allow for advanced processing, augmentation, and control over chat flow. A dedicated section of the documentation explores how to harness Middlewares effectively.

Capabilities Overview

Chat fields are designed to support flexible conversational use cases. You can build them from audio transcriptions, either manually or through AI integrations like OpenAI's Whisper, or combine multiple chats into one for unified context. Chat fields also allow messages to be appended dynamically, enabling use in workflows where conversation history needs to persist, evolve, or influence other actions. Whether capturing interviews, automating support flows, or orchestrating AI-driven conversations, the chat field is an essential building block in Cogfy.

The chat field type stores a full chat conversation in each record of the collection.

You can click on the chat cell to open the chat page and view the conversation history in detail.
